The O.K. Fitness Accountability Team

Life can take some interesting twists and turns. My new blog is launching with a much different focus than initially expected. I could not, however, argue with the forces of nature and the encouragement of friends!  The morph began when the 1979 graduating class of Clarkston High School recognized they were turning 50 this year. Somehow this has created angst among the alum class of Facebook friends who have re-connected in recent years. This peer group is facing dilemmas such as arthritis, backaches and saggy...well, things that sag. So, to combat (and oh, yes...they do mean combat) these creeping indicators that life is half over (ouch), they have banded together to form a "Fitness Accountability Team"  (F.A.T. for short!)

Ladies and Gentlemen...the 1979 class of Clarkston Senior High School invites you to join them on a journey to optimal health and wellness! All are welcome! The only criteria for membership is a burning desire to work really, really hard at achieving all personal fitness goals during the year of 2011. Oh, and by the way...there is no cost to join.

The inspiration for this group of middle-aged folks is Olga Kotelko (thus the group name O.K. Fitness Accountability Team). This amazing woman started her athletic career at age 77!
To learn more about Olga, check out this New York Times story...http://nyti.ms/Olga_Kotelko

The O.K. F.A.T. program, silly acronym and all, means to kick butt and beat fat and flab! Our common mission is to completely optimize our health by exercising hard and smart, by eating healthy and by providing support and accountability to one another along the way. This is going to be an incredible journey with a destination that will set the groundwork for the next 50 years of life!

If you would like to be a part of this virtual team...send your name and email address to Coach Liz at: elizabethmerriweather@gmail.com.

Please also visit the Fit for Life survey. Your input is needed to customize the team's approach!

Remember, anyone is welcome! Invite your friends, neighbors, spouse, child, etc. to participate. Targeted start date is, of course, January 1, 2011 although you may join any time after that as well!

I am SO excited  about partnering with you to make this the year of winning the war on fat and setting a firm foundation for the next 50 years!
